Example: a sports shop selling through both a webshop and wholesale
SportGear Direct sells through its own webshop to consumers and wholesale to gyms, from the same stock. Here's how Odoo connects both sales channels.
-
1. An order through the webshop
A customer orders through the webshop, built with the Website app. The stock shown there is the same live stock as in the warehouse — no separate system to keep in sync.
Product Channel Qty Stock after order Running Shoes Pro Webshop 2 pairs 46 pairs Sports Bag Compact Webshop 1 unit 23 units -
2. A sales order, automatically
The order comes straight in as a sales order in Odoo, with nobody having to retype it from the webshop. For a limited number of large or slow-moving items, SportGear Direct doesn't hold stock itself: if a customer orders one of those, Odoo automatically creates a purchase order with the supplier using the end customer's delivery address, so the supplier can ship straight to them (dropshipping).
-
3. Warehouse and shipping
The warehouse picks and packs the order through the stock routes in Inventory, linked to the chosen carrier.
-
4. Wholesale through the same system
Gyms order larger quantities through the same Sales app, with their own pricelists and payment terms — from exactly the same stock as the webshop.
Customer Price per pair Payment term Consumer (webshop) €89.95 Instant (iDEAL) Gym FitPlus (wholesale) €54.00 30 days -
5. Payment and accounting
Online payments (cards, digital wallets) are automatically reconciled and the invoice processed in Accounting, with no manual bank work.
The result
One stock, one system for both the webshop and wholesale, with no double entry between channels. A connection to a marketplace like Amazon fits in well as an extra sales channel.
