Example: a transport company planning routes for customers
Transport company Snel & Zeker plans dozens of routes for different customers every day, with a fleet of its own trucks. Here's how Odoo ties routes, drivers and invoicing together.

1. Transport order
A new order from a customer is recorded with the pickup and delivery location and the agreed rate.

2. Scheduling the route
The planner links the order in the Planning app to a driver and a truck — the Fleet app automatically tracks each vehicle's maintenance and roadworthiness dates, so nothing is ever driven with an expired inspection. When a vehicle approaches a preset mileage, the Maintenance app automatically creates a maintenance request on top of that, so preventive maintenance is never forgotten.

3. The driver on the road
The driver sees the route and the accompanying documents on their phone, and updates the status as soon as they've loaded or delivered.

4. Hours and mileage
Hours worked are logged through the Timesheets app and automatically linked to the relevant order.

5. Invoicing per route or periodically
Some customers are invoiced per route, others monthly in a consolidated invoice — Odoo draws up both automatically from the same orders. Maintenance contracts and insurance premiums per vehicle are also posted automatically on a recurring basis to the right cost centre, so the real cost per vehicle is always up to date — with no manual journal entries.

The result
